Doctor of Laws from the University of Barcelona, Master’s Degree in European Law from the Institut d’Etudes Européennes de Bruxelles and practising lawyer.
Carmenchu has specialised in intellectual and industrial property, image rights, unfair competition and trade secrets, working in both the academic and professional fields.
She has extensive experience in advising holders of exclusive rights in the protection of their intangible assets, as well as in the defence and legal representation in litigation.
In 2025, she joins TJA to lead the legal department as a senior associate.
Jaume is a founding partner and chairman of TJA, with more than three decades of experience in the field of industrial property. Since he began his career in 1986, he has played a key role in developing strong patent portfolios for the firm’s clients.
A specialist in electronic, electrical, mechanical, physical and construction engineering, Jaume has drafted and supervised a large number of patent applications and issued numerous opinions on patentability, infringement and validity. His extensive experience includes representation before the European Patent Office (EPO) and the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (OEPM), handling examination procedures, oppositions and appeals. He has also acted as an expert witness in international litigation in countries such as Spain, France, Italy and Germany.
In addition to a being European Patent Attorney and earning a Diploma in Patent Litigation in Europe from the CEIPI (Centre d’Études Internationales de la Propriété Intellectuelle), Jaume holds a Master’s Degree in Software and Bioinformatics from the United States (PRGA Patent Law Program) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Spanish and European Patents from the University of Barcelona. He is an ACCIÓ Advisor.
Margalida joined TJA in 2012 and is currently the technical director of the patent department. In 2019, she passed the European Qualifying Examination, and in 2020 she obtained the Diploma in Patent Litigation in Europe (CEIPI).
Before joining TJA, Margalida gained extensive experience in the field of management and transfer of innovation projects in different companies. Her duties at TJA include advising on industrial property matters, drafting and prosecution of national, European and international patent applications, as well as drafting oppositions and technical reports (patentability, opposition, infringement, freedom to operate (FTO) analysis, expert reports, etc.).
Margalida is specialised in the area of telecommunications, communications systems, medical devices and technology, optical and electronic systems, and software computing applications and methods. She is an ACCIÓ Advisor.
European Patent Attorney. Representative before the Unified Patent Court. Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry and PhD in Organic Chemistry from the University of Barcelona; postgraduate degree in Business Management from EAE School of Business.
Bernat joined TJA Patents in 2020, after starting his career in the industrial property sector at a leading Spanish agency in Madrid, and working as an in-house patent engineer at a leading multinational in the automotive components sector.
In 2022, Bernat passed the European Qualifying Examination. His work focuses on drafting and prosecuting patent applications, as well as preparing technical reports on patentability, validity, risk of infringement and freedom to operate (FTO). His specialisation covers sectors such as chemistry, biochemistry, pharmacy, materials science, nutrition and cosmetics.
Prior to his career in industrial property, Bernat developed a distinguished research career. He did his PhD in Organic Chemistry at the Institute for Biomedical Research in Barcelona (IRB Barcelona) and furthered his training at internationally renowned institutions such as the Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule (ETH) in Zurich, the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) in Barcelona and the University of Chicago, where he was a postdoctoral researcher.

Jordi joined TJA in 2013, first as an external consultant and since 2015 as a member of the technical department. In 2021, he passed the European Qualifying Examination. His work includes the drafting and prosecution, up to the granting before national patent offices worldwide, of patent and utility model applications in the field of construction, architecture, HVAC, renewable energy and mechanics, as well as the filing of EU industrial design registrations. His responsibilities also include the preparation of technical reports on patentability, risk of infringement reports, expert reports, etc., as well as the preparation of opposition and appeal briefs, or replies to opposition and appeal briefs received.

Miquel joined TJA in 2021 after starting his career in industrial property in 2016 at a prestigious IP firm in Barcelona. He previously worked in the energy sector. He passed the European Qualifying Examination in 2022.
His work includes the drafting and prosecution of patent and utility model applications in the field of construction and engineering in general, and in particular in the mechanical field, as well as the preparation of technical reports on patentability, risk of infringement, feasibility, etc., and the preparation of briefs for submission to the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office, to the European Patent Office and to national patent offices around the world.
Industrial Technical Engineer specialised in Industrial Electronics and Electricity.
Carles joined TJA in 2019 in the technical department and began his professional career in the field of Industrial Property, drafting patents and utility models, drafting industrial designs, as well as preparing technical reports on patentability, validity, risk of infringement, and technological surveillance.
Prior to joining the firm, Carles had acquired extensive experience in the execution and management of national and international projects in the electrical and industrial sector, in the design, development and implementation of industrial control architectures with PLC-SCADA-OEE-MES and their integration in ERPs.

Núria, founding partner of TJA, has extensive experience in the Industrial Property sector, specialising in the registration and management of trademarks.
Her professional career focuses on providing comprehensive advice to clients in the field of trademark registration and defence on a global level. Her skills include conducting background research, monitoring and prosecution of cases, surveillance of possible oppositions, and implementation of strategies for efficient and comprehensive trademark management.

Elisabet, founding partner of TJA, is the head of the firm’s trademark department, bringing with her solid experience in the field of Industrial Property.
Specialised in global trademark registration and defence, Elisabet is dedicated to providing comprehensive advice to her clients, from strategic planning and trademark registration to opposition and litigation defence.
Her training as a lawyer and her master’s degree in labour law complement her experience, enabling her to approach trademark protection with a rigorous, practical and multidisciplinary approach.
Degree in Business Administration. Master’s Degree in Marketing and Digital Marketing.
After 10 years of professional experience in Canada, working in various marketing and international trade companies, Laia joined TJA in 2019. Since then, she has held key roles in the management and leadership of the company, eventually taking on the position of Managing Director.
Degree in Translation and Interpreting. Certification in TEAT (Technician in Tourist Companies and Activities).
Anna joined TJA in 2004, having gained professional experience in translation companies. Her fluency in English and French has been key to her performance within the company.
Anna is currently working as a paralegal in the European Patent and PCT International Applications department, efficiently managing their filing, monitoring and maintenance.

Sonia joined TJA in 2012 to strengthen the international area. She is currently in charge of handling procedures relating to prosecution and administrative management in the field of patents, utility models and designs abroad.
Lawyer. Master’s Degree in Corporate and Business Law.
Mayelin joined TJA in 2018, starting her professional career in the field of intellectual and industrial property, after having gained experience as a paralegal in the legal departments of several companies. Since then, her training in this field has been ongoing.
At TJA, Mayelin combines the functions of Spanish patent and utility model application management and prosecution with legal assistance, where she assists clients in the comprehensive protection of their rights.
She holds a degree in International Relations from the University of Alicante and a Master’s degree in International Cooperation and Public Policy, Programme and Development Project Management from the Menéndez Pelayo International University.
She has experience in Public Affairs consultancy and has worked as a paralegal in the national and international trademarks department.
In 2025, she joined TJA in the European and PCT patents department.
Industrial Technical Engineer specialising in textiles.
Jordi joined TJA in 2007, after having worked in the textile sector and as a laboratory technician. He is currently responsible for the management of annuities and renewals of patents and utility models, as well as validation procedures in Spain and other countries.
